It’s been awhile since I last blogged, this summer was just soo busy! Anyway, here is the last assignment I did for my typography class (comd 204) over the summer. It was basically designing our own modular typeface. Overall, I really enjoyed the assignment, but I wouldn’t say I am 100% satisfied with what I came up with, but with the time restrictions and everything going on, I would say I’m at least 80% satisfied.

I still can’t believe summer is almost over, but the sad part is that it has to end with rainy weather this week. Typical Raincouver life.

Anyway, stay tuned for more posts of my design work (hopefully it won’t take me another month to post, haha). Happy Tuesday!

So I’m a designer, not exactly an artist. I can’t remember when was the last time I actually drew things (other than mockups/sketches) by hand, let alone comic art. I know there are many designers out there who draw alot, possibly every single day. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those. I wish I was. But when you have freelance clients and full-time school, who has that kind of time? I’m pretty embarrassed about my drawings actually, they look very child-like. I would love to clean up the work a bit in Illustrator one of these days, but for now whatever, just enjoy!

This is a video project I did with my classmate Jennifer C for design core (DESN 210). It’s still pretty rough, and probably needs a better ending.. but oh well! It was due today. Maybe in the future I will polish this piece up, but for the time being, just enjoy!

Last night, thanks to @yumi_ang, we went to the H&M Garden Collection launch party at Pacific Centre. I practically loved the entire collection. The best part was that it was entirely made of recycled and organic materials! I love sustainable design. Plus, I was surrounded by shopaholics like myself with yummy hors d’oeuvres, and wine too!!!

In the end, I only managed to get these flats (above) from their Garden Collection, since we went pretty late and most of the smaller sizes were taken. But I did get a nice floral scarf and a floral dress that wasn’t part of their collection to make up for it. I would go back to see if they get more stock in, but it’s back to budgeting for me.. must save for Japan in May!

On a related but less brighter note, buying things made of sustainable materials doesn’t necessarily make the world sustainable at all. Buying things that aren’t a necessity is not helping the environment. But I can’t help it.. I love clothes, shoes and bags. At least I know that buying something I love will not end up in the landfill. Which I guess is not so bad? Plus, I refuse to drive to places, I always bring my own coffee mug and I recycle almost everything, so I guess I’m already greener than alot of people I know.

Someone mentioned I should post my data visualization project from design class, so here it is! The main project topic was on Myers-Briggs personality types. If you don’t know much about Myers-Briggs, then it might not make so much sense to you, but anyway, check it out!

I took the photo (above) downtown right after the men’s hockey team won gold! Never seen so much canadian spirit in my life.. I honestly didn’t know we had it in us! So proud to be Canadian! I LOVE CANADA!!!

Currently I’m using the awesome Oulipo theme which I really like, but it’s only going to be temporary. I’m trying to finish up designing my own theme but I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I have no idea when that’s going to happen.
