Joyce (she/her) has been described as a fusion of artist and technologist. When asked what she does, she usually responds with: “I design, I code and I teach design and code.”
Joyce is currently a regular faculty instructor in the New Media and Web Development diploma program at BCIT. Since 2016, she’s been teaching interaction design courses at Emily Carr University of Art+Design, as a sessional instructor. Together with her partner, Joyce also runs Jokaer Studios, a boutique full-service creative studio.
An alumni of Emily Carr University, Joyce holds a bachelor’s degree in Design (B.Des, 2012) and a master’s degree in Digital Media (MDM, 2015) from the Centre for Digital Media. Born and raised in Vancouver*, she has been working professionally in this tech city for over 15 years as designer, web developer and everything in between. Her work ranges from “making things pretty†through art direction and branding, to pushing pixels in UI/UX design, to building websites and apps. She is obsessed with the pursuit of defining good design and finding the perfect harmony between art and technology. With every project, her goal is to create meaningful experiences that solves problems.
